Sphenoid: poemsAndreas Vesalius wrote of the Sphenoid bone, which he calls by its "common name... cunieform," in his splendidly illustrated anatomy On the Fabric of the Human Body. A digital image of the bone was graciously captured from the 1543 edition by Ed Holtum, librarian at the John Martin Rare Book Room of Hardin Medical Library, University of Iowa. This image was sent without name or context to eleven poets, and the results were printed in this book, in an edition of about 40. You can have one for $42. Buy |
